Killing the cat

When we were young and swinging on the swings it would be my turn and my sister (not the elder, more lovely, more wonderful susandennis, but the other one) would say I had to wait until the cat died.  A weird expression that meant she could stay on the swing until it stopped moving.  Which took FOREVER.

But that's not what I'm talking about.

I actually mean that I'd like to kill one of our cats.  Now I'm a male so this is not an uncommon occurrence.  My wife took in this feral cat about 9 years ago against every objection I could muster.  We've moved twice since then and the cat comes along.  He's fixed (he's got a clipped ear meaning our local cat fixer caught and released him after fixing) but feels like he must still mark territory.  Inside the house.  I have some respect for him as he is a survivor and thrives in whatever place we put him.  And he neither bites nor claws, is very careful about both.  But he has some Siamese in him and yowls during the day, at night, and especially at 5AM when he wants to come in the house.  And he marks places with cat urine both inside and out.

Yesterday afternoon sometime he decided he would mark the carpet next to the bed on my side splashing up onto my bedside set of drawers.  He did this just after my wife cleaned both litter boxes so it had nothing to do with that.  It was meant for me.

I spent my morning washing the carpet with our carpet cleaner.

Steak

On a brighter note (compared to my previous post) I had my first real experience with ButcherBox and their meat.

TLDR:

Sometimes you don't need a lot of words
Sometimes you don't need a lot of words

I'd never heard of a Coulotte or a Sirloin Cap or a picanha all of which are the same thing.  But it is amazingly tender and flavorful.  My grill knew just what to do with it and the result was as tasty as it looked.

From Dinnerly I've learned new spices and now from ButcherBox I'm learning (after about 60 years of grilling meat) new things about meat.

About the only reason I'm ever tempted to go to a steak place for food is that they get far better meat.  I can cook it as good or better than they can but I can't get the same product.  ButcherBox got me some restaurant quality beef.  Perfect for quarantine eating.
